Michael Jackson Dies
Posted by ryan as Bummer
So The King Of Pop died yesterday of heart failure at age 50. Its crazy because he is my generation’s Elvis. In fact they have made the comparrisons since his early solo success. The thing is, I never got to see the final sad years of Elvis except for video footage of an over weight karate choppin struggling to remember lyrics singer that is now only a small part of his legacy. Elvis died the year I was born. I was only a few months old so I had to be told how great he was. I needed the TV shows, the radio, those old passionate fans to teach me to care. Turns out I really don’t. There are songs of Elvis’s that I think are ok, but that is more pop culture than feelings of being a real fan. So, the future will prove the same for Michael whose life was crazy to put it lightly. Pop culture can be amazing and at the same time a real bitch to someone trying to live a meaningful life. Only time will tell what legacy Michael Jackson is really remembered for. I think some of his music will be timeless elements of pop culture long after I am gone.

New Smart Phones Compared
Posted by ryan as Apple, Technology
I just came across this graphical chart from www.billsource.com on how the new smart phones compare. I have already bought an iPhone Gs and its suppose to arrive by the 19th. No lines, no wait. Its a nice set up. Smart on Apple’s part to make it easy and help get them out in a quicker distribution method. Even a few at a time. I’m sure I’m not alone in having already bought a new phone.

Apple Iphone Rumores
Posted by ryan as Apple, Technology
Any who has ever used an iPhone is excited about the new one coming out very soon. I know I am. The rumor mills are going crazy with this stuff of course. The website The Green Room has created a nice info graphic that show cases all of the rumors that have been floating around lately. I can’t wait to see which ones can be crossed off this list as true.

Sterling Hundley Illustration
Posted by ryan as Art, Illustration, Inspiring, Painting, Style
I come across so many talented artists, and its almost overwhelming the amount of talent out there. This site was going to be a site that featured many of these fine artists, but my lack of due diligence has left the blog posts nil on this and my delicious account very active. In an effort to change that though, here is a great and very talented illustrator named Sterling Hundley. His work is filled with great textures, patterns, and an excellent choice of color. I am impressed with a lot of his work. You should check out his site at www.sterlinghundley.com. Also check out his blog and get more information about his process and profession. He refers to his blog as Advice in his navigation so its going to be worth you while if you are interested in illustration and have a desire to learn.

Hey, show me your knits!
Posted by ryan as Art, Inspiring, Interweb, Style
Hey, show me your knits! is the blog of Breane Martin. I met here while living in L.A. She is pretty awesome and I could go on with the stories from that time but I would rather let her own site do the talking. She has a passion for knitting and music. Not a bad combo, so check out here site Hey, show me your knits!

Knits Going Down
So I just came across this cool musical animation that was created using “over 700 real world knits”. When you think about how easy it is to create this effect in a 3d application and well crafted texture map you have appreciate the soul put into this project. Its the kind of approach I back every time. Even the most cliche ideas will have a touch of originality when approached with a hand crafted approach. Not that I am suggesting the cure for the cliche is a simple approach. I’m just saying that I’ve seen it make the difference at times. A human touch can go a long way, and that ultimately is what you should take away from something as well done as this.
